Tile & Floor Care Concrete Etch is a special blend of acids and detergents specifically formulated to etch concrete surfaces prior to coating. Unlike conventional hazardous acids, TFC Concrete Etch is designed for safety when cleaning. TFC Concrete Etch contains inhibitors to prevent fumes from attacking metal components associated with buildings. No VOC (Volatile Organic Compound Formulas). It is advisable to neutralize TFC Concrete Etch with TFC Easy Clean afterwards to ensure a clean neutral surface for your coating. TFC Concrete Etch must not come into contact with any surface that can be damaged by strong acids such as travertine, marble, granite, limestone, quartzite, cement tiles and metal surfaces.
Directions:
1. Read all instructions and tips before the application so that you can plan the appliation correctly.
2. Before starting the etching process ensure all grease or oil marks are removed with TFC Easy Clean.
3. Mask off any adjacent materials that could get tarnish when in contact with acids.
4. Test for desired results in an inconspicuous area before continuing the application
. 5. Concrete and grout installations should be cured for a minimum of 2 days.
6. Soak the floor with water so that it is damp but not wet.
7. After testing, mix to the correct dilution; apply the solution to the area using a watering can or other suitable applicator, and brush in well with a stiff nylon bristled broom or TFC Hand Pads.
8. Continue scrubbing the solution into the floor for approx 5-10 minutes to work. Do not allow the solution to dry out.
9. Once the fizzing has stopped the reaction has stopped and the floor must be rinsed 10.Rinse off thouroughly with fresh clean water until no bubbles or residues remain. 11.Allow the surface to dry and inspect. Repeat if necessary. 12.Remember to neutralize with TFC Easy Clean as sealers are liable to fail if applied to an acidic surface.
